Described by The Financial Times as ‘among the most respected British Talents’, we have taken great pleasure in following the career of British designer Lee Broom.
Although an initial spell at drama school signalled a move towards a different professional path, it was winning a fashion design competition at the age of 17 that enabled Broom to discover his true niche. Following a job with the renowned Vivienne Westwood, the young Broom enrolled at London-based Central St Martins, where he studied a degree in fashion design. It was during this time that Broom found himself providing décor advice for a number of independent bars across London, a move that cemented his progression into interior design.
Since 2007, Broom has released over 75 furniture and lighting products, each one designed and manufactured under his own label as well as 20 additional products for other brands. Whilst each of these products exhibits exquisite creativity and attention to detail, for us there is one stand out piece of furniture – The Hanging Hoop Chair. Suspended from above, the Hanging Hoop Chair consists of two joined circular hoops, finished in either black powder coated steel or brushed brass, and a seat and backrest upholstered in Kvadrat wool. Beautifully unique, the elegant hanging chair not only acts as a sculptural piece of art but also provides an interesting focal point to any room in which it is positioned.
