Nestled amongst the thickly branched leaves, six metres above ground level and fifty kilometres away from the city of Lulea in Northern Sweden, you will find the Treehotel. The Treehotel does exactly what it says on the packet, it is a hotel in the trees, complete with a number of ‘treerooms’, each one designed to a unique specification by five of Sweden’s top architects.
With room options to arouse your imagination such as ‘The Bird’s Nest’ and ‘The UFO’, we were surprised to realise that it is actually the most normal sounding living quarters that we found to be the most intriguing. ‘The Mirrorcube’ is literally just that, a mirrored cube that creates an almost fantasy-like aura, an invisibility room that conceals you from the outside world. Designed by architects Tham & Videgard and complete with bedroom, bathroom, lounge and roof terrace, the cube is the perfect getaway for those who want to immerse themselves in their natural surroundings and appreciate the beauty of the Swedish countryside.
