As designers, we understand that a knowledge of the story behind a product can have a great impact on the value a consumer places upon it. Thanks to the recent recession, where low costs were prioritised, along with an increase in online shopping, the relationship between maker and consumer seemed to be heading into the history books.
Over the last couple of years however, we are pleased to see that there has been a movement to re-establish this relationship. A movement that removes the barriers that served to hide the person and process behind the product from the final owner.
Situated in a large warehouse in San Francisco, The NWBLK is one such company that seeks to act as a vehicle to reshape the context behind the product, presentation and marketing of todays designers. Bringing together the designer and the consumer, The NWBLK provides the opportunity for product stories to be told directly to those who wish to purchase unique pieces of modern design.
