Set back from the renowned Queen’s Gate boulevard in the heart of South Kensington, the design brief for this beautiful apartment was to embrace the building’s character and history while creating a fresh, timeless and colourful family home.
A full renovation of this 4,000 sq ft London-based family home brought this apartment back to life, with the design team planning and designing every interior architectural and FF&E detail from floor finishes to final styling and accessories.
The impressive high ceilings in this apartment enabled the team to create a beautiful layering of architectural detailing, crisp linear details with up-lit coves, specialist Perlata finished coffers and elegant ornate cornicing.
The design team’s main aim was to create the ultimate family home that was beautiful, timeless and of exceptional quality.
The final apartment has a fresh and contemporary feel on a luxuriously finished architectural canvas, with bespoke furniture, top level joinery designs and finishes. Then finished off with fun quirky elements alongside commissioned pieces of artwork and styling throughout. The space boasts an elegant reception room suitable for entertaining, along with relaxed family living spaces for down time.
The design team enjoyed exploring new colour palettes, pairing chocolate brown with vibrant teals in the master bedroom, and an ochre, black and navy palette in one of the teenage son’s bedrooms.
It was important to the design team for the final apartment to embrace the character of each family member by reflecting personal details in each room, from a model of the son’s favourite car in his bedroom, to the daughter’s favourite fashion books. The design team find this to be a very special result of building long-term relationships with the clients.
