It is always a pleasure when we see clients return to us with another project, a true testament to Taylor Howes Designs and our skilled design team. We were grateful to work with this lovely family again when they approached us after having bought this gorgeous period property, set back on a leafy, suburban street.
Working with architects, Brazil Associates, we have created a truly special family home in which the client’s personality shines through. The house was presented to us as a great blank canvas, with an abundance of inspiring, existing architectural features that give the house an impressive character and a healthy bone structure. The house was extended and refurbished to suit a family with dogs and a busy lifestyle in mind. The contemporary extension, featuring a large open plan kitchen-dining space, compliments the existing property, retaining the charm of the building and joining the two together seamlessly.
The client had briefed us on sourcing ‘the perfect blue’ which we elegantly introduced throughout house, incorporating it into each of the schemes. The soft, calming colour palette that leads from room to room, gives a lovely cohesive feel to the whole house, and yet each area has its own identity and personality.
Pattern and texture were used in a fun and stylish way, whilst still maintaining a softness and warmth to suit our clients. The guest bedrooms were areas that Taylor Howes dared to go bolder and the team had lots of fun designing these spaces. One of the guest bedrooms had a playful makeover, applying the same vibrant pattern to both the walls and the window treatments, which was paired with Christopher Farr fabric upholstered wardrobe doors, complete with antique brass metal stud detailing. The second guest bedroom we transformed into an idyllic ‘sleepover den’ for the children! Bespoke joinery bunkbeds were designed for the space and we specified a beautiful Cole & Son cloud illustration wallcovering to be applied to the ceiling.
The final design of this project reflects the true passion of both the client and the design team. It was a project that we loved working on, and we feel the sophisticated yet fresh outcome shines through as a result.
